Architects and building draftsmen are incredible at creating aesthetic designs for the exterior and making sure you get all of the rooms you wished for within the design. But are they really in the right spot?

I can't count the amount of times a client has come to me at the tail end of the build dissatisfied by the little interior details that were decided on way earlier in the project.

"Why did my builder put the fireplace on this wall?"

"Why is my toilet in such a bad spot in the bathroom?"

"Why do I have such a small shower when there's all this room over here?"

"Why don't I have enough storage space?"

"Why does my kitchen layout compromise where my living and dining furniture should go?"

These are all things we need to consider before the DA is put through council. Functional layout design looks at the flow and function of each and every room - then altogether as a whole.

For this reason, being able to design from scratch, renovate, or simply refresh with furniture & decor is an incredible opportunity. Sometimes it can be a little tricky not knowing what to do or which direction to take. Jess is extremely passionate about taking care in these initial steps of design by getting to know you and your family, and creating a homes that meshes to your personality and living habits - going above and beyond to ensure it goes above and beyond your initial vision.

Design styles such as Hamptons, Provincial, Coastal and Luxe will work as inspiration as we question how these styles make you feel. Sometimes it is just a tool in the design process.

This service includes the curation of moodboards, digital samples and reference images to create a strong initial vision. The conceptual stage is required before beginning any project with Jess, but is optional for those looking for just design advice and can be used as an extremely beneficial guide if you've chosen to DIY your project.

Finishes allow us to use colour psychology, similar to the effect of paint. Fixtures and Equipment look at the functionality of the space and what's really required of the project. Combinations of different selections (depending on their shape, colour and texture) will lead to different reactions in our body. Whether it be a design that energise us, calm us, make us focused or even talkative.

Finishes oversee all the hard surfaces. From floorboards to tiles, natural stone slabs, wall panelling, microcement, carpet, joinery facia and engineered wraps.

Fixtures include tapware, hardware, basins, sinks, wastes, mirrors, toilets, baths and pre-made vanities.

Equipment will tend to require electrical installation, for instance fridges, ovens, microwaves and warming drawers. All of these items do impact the end result of the design but are too often left out.

All products are sourced from an array of networked suppliers within Australia and fit all scales of the budget. Presented in a FF&E schedule with links to suppliers and pricing, accompanied by physical swatches and sample boards wherever possible to show how the elements work together to achieve the desired space.

Colours have the psychological ability to impact our mood and behaviour. One small colour change, whether it be in tone or hue can completely change the way a space feels. Selecting paint colours for your home is an art in itself - often chosen from gut feeling. With countless colours to choose from (over hundreds of millions to be exact), it's so important to work finalise the right palette before starting any job.

All colours are carefully selected with your desired style and feel of the house in mind; utilising colour theory, lighting and exposure to select exterior and interior paints for your future home. Documentation is handed over in PDF form to detail each wall/substrate for your contractor.

One of the most impactful parts of the design that is often overlooked. Lighting can come in all different shapes and sizes - whether it's large sculptural features that are guaranteed to turn heads, or small lights that are moodly lit to create ambience or reveal other special features in the space. Whether it be in the entry, kitchen, living, bedroom, bathroom, staircase or even outdoor.

Working with the layout of the space to substitute, or compliment downlighting. Having the ability to create a soft mood at night by switching on subtle lighting is an incredible experience - and healthier for us psychologically.

Feature lighting may include chandeliers, pendants, linear lights, wall sconces and picture lights. Table lamps and floor lamps are included later in the project within the furniture & decor tab. All pieces are carefully sourced from an array of networked suppliers in Australia and are presented in a Design Documentation document with recommended bulb specifications.

There are so many ways to dress windows, each having the ability to change the feel of the home in dramatic ways. From blinds to shutters, blockouts and sheer curtains.

Here we will look at the functionality of the room, as well as the aesthetics. Selecting finishes and styles that align to the desired feel of the home whilst playing around with natural light. These selections can be used as suggestions and taken to various fabricators that meet different scales of the budget. It's recommended that all window furnishings installed prior to furniture and decor.

The most well-thought out stage of interior design. Here we finalise the conceptual development of your home as we tie together the aesthetics of colour, texture, tone, sculptural shapes and function in the three-dimensional realm.

Furniture and decor truly has the power to make your house feel like a home, which is why each piece is carefully sourced to bring out you and your family's personality. Jess has networked with hundreds of suppliers and smaller makers all across Australia, giving the ability to narrow down an incredibly large market to a few selections; tailored to your desired mood, feel & function of the home whilst fitting every range of the budget.

Decorations may include, but aren't limited to; rugs, art, lamps, linens, vases, vessels, candles, trinkets, books, baskets and bathroom accessories.

Each and every piece will have an intention in your space. Finalised selections will be handed over in documentation with links to suppliers, detailed descriptions of their purpose, and if possible, the story of how they are made and who they support.

If you would like a more holistic approach to your space, Jess can also select natural, sustainable or ethically handmade pieces that are slow-made using traditional artisanal methods. Creating homes filled with pieces made from love, made to last generations.

Realistic and easy to understand visualisations of your future home. The perfect tool to convey exactly how the designs will look and feel before investing into the fit out. Unifying the flow of the floor plans to any existing or selected finishes, fixtures and furniture & decor. Built to scale with colour and material precision, supplied in 2D high-def imagery and 3D video fly throughs.

This is an incredible addition for those who need a visual link beyond floor plans and moodboards that can be requested at any step of the design process.

An optional final step of the journey which oversees the installation and finalised styling of all furniture and decor pieces in the space. Whether it be laying out rugs, sprucing up vases with florals or having beds made ready for the first night in your new home. A truly personalised service that turns packed boxes into a designer home.

Installation of flat pack or bulky furniture items and artwork hanging can be quoted upon additionally and performed by trades specialised in the field. This can also oversee rubbish removal for all projects with large scales of items.

For all projects looking to design a new kitchen, laundry, bathroom, shelving or cabinet spaces. Our studio will focus on all the beautiful colours, details and well-thought out measurements that go into the design paired with the craftsmanship and experience of a cabinet maker, joiner, kitchen company or your chosen builder.

Utilising the Conceptual Design for your home we will slowly & intentionally create an incredible, unique cabinet design. An overall floor plan will be curated to focus on the functionality of the room, whilst 2D elevations will play around with the visualise aspect. Our studio will select cabinet finishes, facia designs, hardware, inserts, kickboards, benchtops and backsplashes to ensure the design is cohesive and really goes above and beyond your initial vision.

Our studio also takes inspiration from European ergonomic design that differs from most Australian designs and will offer you a space that maximises storage and efficiency by tend fold.

So we've selected the finishes, fixtures, equipment and possibly even designed some custom cabinetry. What now?

To streamline the installation process and avoid any issues, some additional drawings may be required by your builders or installers. These drawings will help them visualise the job and scope of works in their own special language.

This might include floor plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans, flooring layout plans, plumbing plans and electrical plans. All drawings are guidelines for trades to use so they can construct as closely to the original design intent as possible. They are for proposal use only, each and every trade is to measure and assess the space itself as the project progresses.

This is when we look at layout in terms of furniture and decor.

What will be the first thing you see when you walk in the room? Will it fill squished? Is there too much clutter? Can you easily entertain in this space without moving furniture? Are there fragile items in reach of children?

But most importantly, are your pieces in the best possible spot so you can feel relaxed, supported and invited to use the space?

The desired layout of the space will be communicated in a 2D floor plan and discussed in detail in your handover meeting. This service can be chosen without furniture & decor selections, but is already considered when you opt in for selections. Our designs have intention, always.

Plants are becoming more and more frequently used in interior spaces. They are proven to connect us to the outdoors, which in turn calms down the mind and body. They also have incredible physical benefits to the home - whether it be purifying the air to improve oxygen and remove nasties, preventing mold, repelling certain bugs and increase humidity to help moisturise our hair and skin.

Our studio selects plants based off aesthetics and also function, looking at what's needed in the space but also what will work. Some plants can be quite needy so unless you're a professional plant owner we will only suggest the most easy going varieties for your home.

Selections will be included in your Design Documentation and discussed at the handover meeting. Please note that pricing does vary depending on location and availability. We will work hard to select the perfect additions whilst keeping to the brief of your project and suggest back ups as needed.

With access to an incredible wholesale crystal store in Sydney, we are able to select and supply some of the most beautiful crystals of all different varieties, origins and grades with prices up to 40% off the RRP.

These beautiful crystals will be selected to compliment the design of your home whilst also being intuitively chosen for you and your family based off its frequency. If you have a certain crystal in mind, we can take requests for a certain type, colour, shape or size if/when the stock becomes available.

Minimum spend is $150 AUD (excl. service fees and GST).

If you prefer to be present in the decision making, or simply select your own crystals with some design advice on which room to put it in then there is the option to meet directly at the store for a 1:1 interactive shopping session.
